ABOUT
CHIASSO is a personal creative space by the architect Matteo Gerbi. It brings together thinking and making across architecture, art, installations, and furniture design.
Matteo is a Chartered Architect with nearly twenty years of professional experience, working across scales, from complex infrastructure to houses, objects, and spatial experiments.
The projects presented here explore thinking beyond the routines of Matteo’s daily professional practice. Drawings, objects, and spatial concepts are developed as part of an ongoing investigation into clarity, simplicity, and meaning in design.
Some works are complete, others remain open, still finding form.

NAME AND LOGO
CHIASSO is a name drawn from Italian and from personal history, originally a family nickname before becoming the name of this space. In Italian, chiasso suggests noise, movement, and bustle.
The sound is intentionally unfamiliar. The name is pronounced /ˈkja.sso/ (“KYAH‑so”).
This space reflects an interest in finding order and meaning within complexity. The logo expresses this idea as a simple, contained form, a defined space that gathers noise and movement into clarity.
